Soooo, this post is two weeks late because I was in Washington DC at the American Library Association conference. The trip was awesome and I learned a lot. And I had a fantastic thought.
One of the good things I have mentioned I would do if I won big was endow our county library. I would still do that, but more than that I would make sure each of the four other towns in this county had a library.
Libraries are important. They change lives. They are more than books. They are the places where all the knowledge is in one place in the community. They are where we can learn anything we want to know and apply for jobs and contact government agencies and find really interesting stuff to read. And they are for everyone. Schools are for the young and hospitals are for the sick, and the government offices are for specific needs but libraries? Young, old, sick, well, in need of services, just plain curious, libraries are there for everyone no matter what.
I want each town to have a library. I don’t want my friends to have to drive half way across the county to use our fantastic library. I want them to have a fantastic library in the town where they pick up their mail and pay their water bill.
New resolution – big money wins first after family go for libraries. In fact, little money wins go for libraries.
There was no winning money for me this week, but this idea is a winner, because everyone wins at the library.
